Clara is a civil engineer with 12 years of experience in tailings and heap leach facility design, operation, and closure.  She specializes in tailings storage facility design, including slurry, paste, and dry stack tailings disposal. 

Clara has worked on projects in the Americas, Australia, and Asia in roles ranging from field engineer and QA monitor for the San Manuel Closure Project in Arizona to project manager for the conceptual design of a tailings storage facility and heap leach pad for a 62 million ton gold operation in White Pine County, Nevada. She has also worked on scoping- and feasibility-level designs for tailings and waste rock storage facilities in Australia and in Papua New Guinea, where she helped design two 200-metre earth dams for Xstrata’s Frieda River Project in an area of high seismicity.
