Ore placement and solution management greatly influence the design and layout of earthworks for a heap leach facility. Our approach is to assess and optimise earthwork and lining requirements based on the topographical and geotechnical characteristics of the site, the engineering characteristics of the ore, and the environmental/closure objectives for the project. We will identify all possible risks and help you meet your project’s stringent environmental regulations in a cost-effective manner.

Our design team provides a comprehensive range of services, including site selection, geotechnical investigations, conceptual through construction level design, specification and bid document preparation, and construction quality control/quality assurance. We have extensive experience with the design and operation of heap leach facilities, and our expertise covers projects for precious and base metals in a range of climatic conditions.

We also understand the engineering associated with leach pad design such as pad stability, heap drainage, water management, operational requirements and planning closure from the design stage. We have also placed experienced senior associates with significant experience into project teams as reviewers, as well as for training of staff.

With increasing interest in uranium heap leaching, we can offer knowledgeable and practical solutions based on our extensive experience that we have gained on several international projects: we were the first consultancy to design leach pads for uranium applications. Our other major strengths are in the areas of copper and precious metals, wet environment leach pads, and operational water management.
